Halifax Humane Society is proud to partner with PetSmart Charities® for National Adoption Week, taking place July 20–26. Throughout the week, we will host five community events at PetSmart Daytona Beach and PetSmart DeLand, featuring pet care education, helpful resources, interactive activities, and opportunities to meet adoptable shelter pets.
Whether you are considering adoption, looking for ways to better support your current pet, or hoping to learn more about Halifax Humane Society’s programs, we invite you to join us for one or more of these special events.
Wednesday, July 22: Keepin’ It Cool
2–6 p.m.
PetSmart Daytona Beach
1900 W. International Speedway Blvd., Daytona Beach, FL 32114
Learn creative ways to help keep your pets cool, comfortable, and enriched during the summer months. Our team will demonstrate how to make homemade treats, stuff KONGs, and use enrichment mats to keep pets mentally stimulated.
Guests can also explore recommended enrichment products and take home recipes approved by Dr. Bliss, including options for both dogs and cats. The first 10 attendees will receive a complimentary silicone treat mold.
Thursday, July 23: Reunited & It Feels So Good
5–7 p.m.
PetSmart DeLand
Help protect your pet and increase the chances of a quick reunion if they ever become lost.
Guests can receive assistance registering their pets with Petco Love Lost, a free national lost-and-found database that uses photo-matching technology to help reunite missing pets with their families.
Our team will also provide complimentary microchip lookups, free PupCups, and a dog and cat
tag Shrinky Dink activity that can be turned into an identification tag or keychain.
Guests are encouraged to bring donations for Halifax Humane Society’s Animal Safety Net, which
supports families experiencing hardship through resources such as our Pet Food Pantry and
assistance with veterinary care.
Friday, July 24: Is Your Dog a Puller?
3–6 p.m.
PetSmart Daytona Beach

Does your dog pull during walks? Stop by for guidance from a Halifax Humane Society behavior and training coach, who will help guests learn more about harness options and proper fitting techniques.
The first 10 attendees will receive a complimentary travel water bowl and poop bag holder while supplies last.
Saturday, July 25: School’s Out for the Summer Adoption Event
11 a.m.–3 p.m.
PetSmart Daytona Beach
1900 W. International Speedway Blvd., Daytona Beach, FL 32114
Meet adoptable shelter pets and help them earn the most important superlative of all: Most Likely to Find a Loving Home.
Staff and volunteers will be available to introduce guests to adoptable pets of different ages, breeds, and personalities. Attendees can also enjoy a senior superlative photo frame and take home our “No School, No Work, Just Play?” pet enrichment handout.
Sunday, July 26: PetSmart DeLand Adoption Event
12–3 p.m.
PetSmart DeLand
National Adoption Week will conclude with an offsite adoption event at PetSmart DeLand. Meet adoptable pets from Halifax Humane Society and spend time getting to know their personalities with help from our staff and volunteers.
Every pet adopted from Halifax Humane Society has been examined by a veterinarian, spayed or neutered, microchipped, and started on flea and heartworm prevention to help give them the best possible start in their new home.
