Neuter Scooter for a Nickel

Halifax Humane Society is continuing to build momentum behind its “Neuter Scooter for a Nickel” campaign through a new partnership with Give Them Ten, the feline welfare movement dedicated to reducing pet overpopulation through education, outreach, and accessible spay/neuter resources. Since launching in April, the campaign has already resulted in more than 600 male cat neuter surgeries, helping countless cats throughout the community receive lifesaving preventative care while reducing the number of unwanted litters entering shelters and rescues.

To help drive the campaign toward its goal of 900 male cat neuters by June 30, Give Them Ten has joined Halifax Humane Society in expanding awareness efforts surrounding the initiative. The organization, funded by The Joanie Bernard Foundation, is also the creative force behind Scooter the Neutered Cat, a fun and memorable ambassador designed to help normalize and encourage spay/neuter education within communities nationwide.

Male cat neuter surgeries continue to be available for just five cents through June 30 at the Halifax Humane Society Spay & Neuter Clinic, located at 600 Mason Avenue, Suite #150, Daytona Beach, FL 32117. The special includes care aimed at preventing future overpopulation while helping cats live healthier lives.

“Spaying and neutering is one of the most important and effective ways we can prevent pet overpopulation before it starts,” said Sean Hawkins, CAWA, CFRE, Chief Executive Officer of Halifax Humane Society. “Every cat altered helps reduce the number of stray and unwanted animals entering shelters and rescue organizations.”

Surgeries for unowned community cats are available on Wednesdays, and cats must arrive in a humane box trap. Surgeries for owned pet cats are available on Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays, and cats must arrive in a sturdy plastic carrier. Space is limited, and appointments are required.

Community members are encouraged to take advantage of this limited-time opportunity before the campaign concludes on June 30.
