Halifax Humane Society volunteers are the lifeblood of our organization. Volunteer opportunities include walking dogs, interacting with cats, preparing meals and enrichment activities for animals, doing shelter laundry, managing front desk Open Paw activities, and supporting off-site adoptions and special events in addition to supporting our thrift store and clinic operations. These volunteer positions directly impact the mission while helping us save the lives of even more animals. We want volunteering with the Halifax Humane Society to be a meaningful and rewarding experience for you, our community, and all shelter animals.
Our goal for the volunteer program is to provide participants with important responsibilities, hands-on training, mentorship, and the chance to grow. Position descriptions for each volunteer role at Halifax Humane Society are available on our volunteer portal. People interested in becoming volunteers should click the link below to register and complete their online profile and waiver. Once you have registered as a new volunteer, it’s time to join one of our upcoming volunteer orientation sessions.
