Here's How Dog Owners Can Stay Productive While Working From Home

An increasing number of individuals are choosing to work from home, and in Florida, workers have been particularly enthusiastic about having a remote working setup. According to a recent survey, 3,500 workers in the state rate their work-from-home happiness at 8 out of 10, which is above the national average of 6.6 out of 10. Remote working hasn't only enabled a lot of people to save money on their commute and live a more relaxed lifestyle: it has also allowed them to spend more time with their loved ones, including their pets. Most pet parents know that working from home while caring for a dog has its challenges, but with a little preparation and a few tips and tricks, you can stay productive while working from home with your pet.

Walk your dog in the morning

Before going online, the first thing that you have to do is to walk your dog in the morning. Doing so helps to relax your dog, and it allows you to bond first thing in the morning. Moreover, it enables your pooch to use up their energy so they can relax and sleep once you get home, and you can stay productive while your pet is around. Exercising in the morning also lessens your dog's distracting behaviors, such as jumping, barking or scratching at the furniture, allowing you to focus on your tasks.

Have a dedicated space for work

Ideally, people who work from home should have a dedicated space for work, such as a home office with a door. If you happen to have one, keep the door closed to let your pooch know that the room is off limits. If your dog whines and scratches at the door, don't give in to their demands for attention, since they'll think that it's okay to do so even when you're busy. To reassure your fur baby, create a place where they can rest outside your office. You can move your pet's bed nearer to the door, or place a comfortable rug just outside your office so your dog can rest or play while waiting for you. Make sure to give your dog a toy so they'll have something to distract them while you're working.

Take scheduled breaks

You probably had scheduled breaks while working at the office, so why not have a structured break schedule while working from home? Not only will it help ensure that you get a lot of things done, but you can also spend your breaks playing with your dog and looking after both of your needs. Have a 30-minute break in the morning, and use that time to have a snack and pet your dog. Then have another break in the afternoon so both of you can go on a walk or play a quick game of fetch. Doing so helps you to establish a routine, which will ensure productivity, and it also helps your dog thrive while you're working from home.

Working from home with a pet can be a challenge, but by having a dedicated place for work and taking time for exercise and breaks, your dog can be happy while you're remote working. Try these tips to stay productive while working from home, and don't forget to look after yourself to ensure your health and well-being.
