Legislative Advocacy

HHS supports the efforts against animal cruelty locally, nationally and internationally.

Halifax Humane Society is committed to reducing the amount of animal cruelty in the world today. From abandoned horses left to starve to death, to kittens throw from moving cars, there are some people in this world who have little or no appreciation for the lives of animals.

Governments of all types, deal with animal cruelty cases on a continuous basis. Local county, city and state governments can impose stiffer penalties on people who intentionally mistreat animals and HHS will support efforts that keep the animals welfare at the forefront of legislation.

Internationally, we attend conferences to keep informed of the most recent strides in the prevention of animal cruelty. We visit third-world countries who still have dog meat markets and try to educate them of the alternative choices to this practice.
