Groundbreaking a Great Success

Halifax Humane Society had their Final Phase Groundbreaking Event on 2/22/2018. Over 100 donors and supporters attended the event that has started construction on the Main Campus building. This building is 60-years old and the renovation is long overdue. CEO, Miguel Abi-hassan said, "We want to make the Halifax Humane Society a place where people want to go instead of only visiting when they have to." It has been Miguel's vision to take the Halifax Humane Society to the next level of adoption and pet center instead of just another shelter.

At just over 8-acres, the Halifax Humane Society is fast becoming much more than a shelter. A 3-acre community dog park, a boarding, grooming, and travel center, and now the renovation of the Main Campus building which will add a state-of-the-art Educational and Experience Center funded by a PetSmart Charities Grant of $150,000.00. "The Educational and Experience Center will provide visitors with access to technology that will help educate and demonstrate the mission of the Halifax Humane Society. A new and improved Summer Camp Program for kids ages 7 - 12 will be available once again after the renovation process" said Barry KuKes, Community Outreach Director.

The Halifax Humane Society is located at I-95 and the LPGA Blvd. exit. This entire area is booming with new retail and residential construction including Latitude Margaritaville, a new Sam's Club, a Dave & Busters, Trader Joes, a Bucky's 120 pump fuel station, and many more new stores.

"With the edition of the 55+ Margaritaville sub-division, we hope to see more retirees looking to volunteer for a great cause, but why wait until you are 55+, you can volunteer today by completing our online application. Volunteer Application.
