Volunteer Training 2.0 -
Going beyond the typical shelter volunteer education is commonplace here at HHS. Many of our volunteers have requested to learn more so they can help more and thus the creation of Volunteer Training 2.0.
2.0 allows volunteers to gain the knowledge to advance into other areas of animal care, rehabilitation and protection. Our MYM- Meet Your Match program requires that a staff member or trained volunteer assist our Behavioral Animal Director with animal assessments to determine what type of personality they display. Matching the correct animal behavior with the correct consumer behavior is critical to a solid match. A dog or cat that is very active and energetic will usually not be a great match for an older person interested in a cuddle buddy.
Volunteers are very important to our organization and the proper training of each volunteer is crucial to the success of all of our programs.
We also have classes for vet tech volunteers, administrative volunteers, advanced dog walking and behavioral correction, and much more.
Check back for class schedules or email VolunteerManager@halifaxhumanesociety.org for additional information.
