Low Cost Pet Spay/Neuter

The best way to battle the pet overpopulation problem that shelters face on a daily basis is to spay or neuter pets. The Halifax Humane Society offers a low cost spay/neuter program for low income families.
Eligibility
This program is for low income households only. Pet owners unable to spay or neuter their pet due to cost are eligible. Pet owners must be willing to sign a statement indicating that they would not be able to afford to spay or neuter their pet without the help of this program. This program is not for every pet owner. Those pet owners able to pay for the sterilization of their animal are asked not to participate. Abuse of this program will result in its termination.
Procedures
1. Eligible pet owners purchase a spay/neuter certificate from the society.
2. Below is a list of participating veterinarians. Certificate holders are responsible for scheduling an appointment with the vet of their choice or the HHS. Surgeries are not conducted without an appointment. Veterinarians may charge additional fees. Make sure you get notice of all vet fees before scheduling an appointment.
3. Upon examination, if the veterinarian feels surgery would involve an unusual risk, the surgery may be rescheduled or recommend it not be done. If surgery is cancelled by the vet, a refund in the amount of the certificate price will be given by the HHS.
4. Certificate holders may purchase an additional certificate to be used for a rabies and DHLPP or FVRCP immunization. These certificates are sold separately at the shelter and online.

To purchase a low cost certificate in person, visit the Halifax Humane Society located at 2364 W. LPGA Blvd. in Daytona Beach (just west of the I-95 overpass).
