The Halifax Humane Society accepts gifts in memory of a loved one. This is a beautiful way to honor someone who loved animals and for expressing compassion to someone who has had a loss.

Giving in honor of someone is great way to donate to a worthy charity in place of things like a birthday present, Christmas present, or wedding gift. The person who you are giving in honor of will receive special recognition of your gift from the Halifax Humane Society.

Emergency Medical Fund
There are many times we receive animals that cannot be treated by our medical staff. In those cases, it is necessary for us to take the dog to a local veterinarian to perform the procedure. Trillian was one of those cases. When she was confiscated from the home, Trillian was emaciated with an injured eye hanging from the socket. It cost the HHS over $2,000 to treat Trillian before we placed her in a foster home.
And every penny was worth it as Trillian is back to being a healthy, playful cat. We also assist people in the community who fall on hard times. If your pet needs a medical procedure you cannot afford, you can solicit funds to cover the procedure from the HHS. Whether we're saving your animal or a confiscated one, when you donate to the Emergency Medical Fund you make an immediate impact on the life of an animal. Purchase a Brick
At the HHS we have a brick walk lining our courtyard. When people visit the shelter in search of a new family member, they take them out into the courtyard area to get to know them. Your name or chosen inscription is what they will read as our animals find their forever homes. It's a great way to permanently be a part of the wonderful experience of adoption. Each brick costs $100 and are ordered twice per year, once in June and once in December, in order to cut down on shipping expenses.
