On Wednesday, August 6 from 6:00-8:00pm, you can take a break from the summer heat with your favorite 4-legged friend at Halifax Humane Society’s Dog Park on Ice!   Admission is $10 per adult ($5 for children under 12 or free for children 3 and under).

HHS 2014 Pet Photo Contest is Underway


Join the fun and enter the 2014 Pet of the Year Photo Contest. Your pet doesn't have to be adopted from Halifax Humane Society to be considered, but we do love our adoption success stories. The photo entry that receives the most votes will be featured on the cover of the 2015 HHS Calendar!

Help HHS Lead the Way for Community Animals


In 2013, Halifax Humane Society continued to take major steps toward a brighter future for our community's animals.  We are providing more happy endings for our animals than ever before, and are creating programs that provide more exposure than ever for our pets.  HHS is also working proactively to combat the pet overpopulation crisis in our area.  We created a video to allow our friends in the community to take a brief look at how HHS is impacting lives every day, and our vision going forward.

HHS Now Offering Dog Obedience Classes


Need help getting your dog to listen?  Halifax Humane Society now offers dog obedience classes!  Classes are available on Saturday mornings right here at the Halifax Humane Society animal shelter.  The entire course, which consists of four classes, costs just $35 for dogs adopted from HHS, and $45 for others.  Similar classes often cost well over $100 elsewhere!  To sign your dog up for obedience class, please call HHS at (386) 274-4703 and press "1" for our adoption lobby.
