Donor Privacy Policy & Bill of Rights

Donor Privacy Policy

The Halifax Humane Society exists because of the generosity of our donors. Because much trust is placed into our responsibility in being good stewards of the gifts we receive, we return that trust by having a strong donor privacy policy. The guidelines listed below help HHS staff and volunteers understand how they may or may not use donor information. We also promise to never sell, trade, rent, or share any of our donor's information including donor’s name, address, telephone number, or e-mail address.

The Halifax Humane Society provides this Donor Privacy Policy to make you aware of our privacy policy, and to inform you of the way your information is used. We also provide you with the opportunity to remove your name from our mailing list, if you desire to do so.

The Halifax Humane Society collects and uses personal information from donors that includes: name, address, telephone number, e-mail address and donor comments when a donor voluntarily provides it to us. In addition, HHS keeps a record of each donor’s giving history. This information is kept on file for IRS purposes and is also used in our development process to analyze overall giving patterns in order to make accurate budget projections.

The HHS will use your information to issue receipts, send thank you cards, internal analysis and record keeping, and inform donors about news, upcoming fundraising events and other activities. Credit card numbers are used only for donation or payment processing and are not retained for other purposes. We use the comments you offer to provide you with the information requested, and we take seriously each recommendation as to how we might improve communication.

The Halifax Humane Society will not sell, rent, or lease your personal information to other organizations. We assure you that the identity of all our donors will be kept confidential.

It is our desire to not send unwanted mail to our donors. Please contact us if you wish to be removed from our mailing list.

If you have comments or questions about our donor privacy policy, please contact the Development Department at 386-274-4703 x318 or via e-mail, SaveAPet@HalifaxHumaneSociety.org.
